Italian Made, Mid Century, 18ct Gold and Heavy - all make us swoon!
This magnificent ring is resplendent in her rich colours and depth of sparkle. The lab grown orange sapphire is a ball of fire which dances in the light and the shade - it makes us think of William Blake's "The Tiger", "Tiger, Tiger, burning bright" - this stone is just so alive with colour and light. Held in a four claw setting the stone is secure and elegantly held. Surrounding the stone are 4 gold rope wires. These form an almost cage like setting around the stone and the wind around the shoulders - which is just such fabulous detail. The underside of the ring has a further 7 gold rope wires as the most stunning basket. All of this amazing gold work is in 18ct buttery gold - a total luxury and it is divine. It is no wonder the piece is so amazing - it is MidCentury Italian - the registered jewellery 55 duty mark tells us this piece was made between 1948-1962 and stamped in the Assay office of Varese. The shank is flat with a inward taper to the middle. At 3.38mm wide it is comfy and a delight to wear.
